{"id":782,"date":"2022-10-16T10:25:25","date_gmt":"2022-10-16T08:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibe.cnr.it\/en\/?page_id=782"},"modified":"2025-10-16T14:20:47","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T12:20:47","slug":"goproformed-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ibe.cnr.it\/en\/projects\/goproformed-2\/","title":{"rendered":"LIFE GoProFor MED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Identify, conserve and manage Mediterranean forest habitats<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>(LIFE21-NAT-IT-LIFE GOPROFOR MED 101074738)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>[project duration from 01\/09\/22 to 31\/08\/28]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The main aim of LIFE GoProForMED is to enhance the conservation status of four target forest habitats within the Mediterranean Biogeographical Region.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">This will be achieved through the application of close-to-nature management models in 4 representative countries in the Mediterranean area: Italy, Spain, France, and Greece. The project has selected four of the most representative and unique forest habitats of the Mediterranean biogeographic region: <strong><em>Quercus suber<\/em><\/strong><strong> forests (9330)<\/strong><strong>, <em>Quercus ilex<\/em> and <em>Quercus rotundifolia<\/em> forests (9340), <em>Castanea sativ<\/em>a woodlands (9260), <\/strong>and<em> (sub)Mediterranean pine forests with endemic black pines (9530<\/em>*). Specific actions will be implemented in the four selected habitats to improve their conservation status, or at least to prevent further deterioration.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">These conservation practices will be experimental and demonstrative in nature, and will be disseminated through training activities, thereby creating a network of shared experiences among Natura 2000 managers and technical consultants.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">O B J E C T I V E S<\/h2>\n<p>The specific objectives of the project are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To establish a <strong>transnational conservation strategy<\/strong> for the target habitats, also taking into account major risks related to forest fires;<\/li>\n<li>To define <strong>management and conservation models<\/strong> for the four target habitats and apply them on a broad scale, both in terms of area and distribution, including for demonstration purposes;<\/li>\n<li>To promote, among key forest management stakeholders, the <strong>sharing and adoption of management and conservation models<\/strong> for the target habitats, through training activities and management support tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The areas targeted by the pilot actions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Italia: Goceano e Montes (Sardegna), Pratomagno e S.
