This thematic area is responsible for developing biotechnology for the production of plant biomass from terrestrial and aquatic sources; developing circular and aquatic supply chains for the production of bioenergies, feed for aquaculture, phytostimulants, biopesticides and biofertilizers, both terrestrial for the production of bioenergy through the pyrolysis and Pirogasification processes of residues; to study biochar-based strategies as soil improver and for carbon sequestration; developing innovative control systems for advanced physical processes for the valorisation of biological matrices and energy saving; promoting technologies for safety, quality and traceability of products, and for protein production from alternative sources.
