This
thematic area deals with the development of scientific and
technological knowledge aimed at the sustainable exploitation of wood
through research activities, both theoretical and experimental,
addressed to the study: processes and materials based on wood and its
derivatives; wood products for a sustainable industrial and craft use (green technology); engineered products for use in construction (green building); dendrochronology and the diagnosis and preservation of the wooden cultural heritage. The
exploitation of knowledge is also aimed at supporting economic and
social activities through technical-scientific advice and the
development of technical regulations, national and international.
