Bringing together research, industry, and institutions for biochar innovation and implementation.
On October 22 and 23, 2026, the Sala Marconi at the CNR headquarters in Rome (Piazzale Aldo Moro, 7) will host the 10th Biochar School, titled “Biochar Growth: a multidisciplinary approach to biochar innovation and implementation”.
The event is organized by the Italian Biochar Association (ICHAR) in collaboration with the National Research Council – Institute for BioEconomy (CNR-IBE).
This initiative represents a key opportunity for connection and discussion among the scientific, industrial, and institutional communities, connecting research, companies, investors, and policymakers to accelerate the adoption of biochar as a key solution for climate resilience, decarbonization, and sustainable development.
Main Topics and Program
The two-day event will explore climate challenges and technological innovation related to biochar through roundtables, scientific presentations, and industrial case studies:
- Day 1 – Climate Challenges and Implementation: Climate risks and opportunities, biochar for resilience and adaptation, roundtables on sector policies, carbon markets, and sustainable finance, as well as a poster and technology session.
- Day 2 – Research Frontiers and Market: Applications in agriculture and livestock, water treatment and remediation, advanced materials, bioeconomy, and industrial case studies dedicated to market scale-up.
Call for Abstracts – Poster Session
Submissions are now open for the poster session during the school. Contributions from researchers, postdocs, PhD students, and technical-scientific staff are warmly welcomed to showcase research activities on biochar, soil health, climate change mitigation, and the circular economy.
